Leading alumni returned to the Heightsâboth virtually and in-personâfor the recent  hosted by the  and its student executive council, .Ìę
Twenty-three companies attended with the hopes of recruiting summer interns or new employees, among them big-name brands like Oracle and Snapchat. Also on hand were several alumni-founded start-ups: ColdSnap, Candor, GiveCard, and Frenalytics.
This two-day event, which took place on March 24 and 25, included a series of virtual information sessions and an in-person networking brunch at the new Integrated Science Center at 245 Beacon Street. Company leaders gave brief information sessions on their office culture and the types of roles available, and then students were encouraged to ask questions. Students also had the opportunity to attend âCoffee Chats.â Similar to an informational interview, these one-on-one, 15-minute sessions allowed participants to make a stronger impression on recruiters by discussing their personal experiences and skills.
In attendance were more than 175 students, mainly from the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences and the Carroll School of Management. Leading up to the Tech & Entrepreneurship Fair, Start@Shea hosted a series of workshops to help students prepare, covering topics like networking, interviewing, resume writing, and cold emailing.
Some of the notable alumni representatives present at the event included Cory Munchbach (MCAS â09), president and COO of BlueConic; Matthew Giovanniello (CSOM â18), founder of Frenalytics; Kelsey Bishop (CSOM â18), founder of Candor; and Peter Bell (CSOM â86), chairman of Amity Ventures.
In other Shea Center news, Accelerate@Sheaâs Demo Day, where 12 student founders presented their companies, took place on April 6. Coming up is the Strakosch Venture Competition, an annual business plan contest with cash prizes of up to $10,000 for the winning team, on April 25.
